E-Commerce

Establishing an e-commerce presence requires a systematic approach with an awareness of business processes and technology that will facilitate that goal. An e-commerce existence doesn’t necessarily always point to a standalone business website, but can also incoproate social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and mobile applications customers might use to access your products and services online.

For business owners and managers, two significant challenges to establishing a valuable e-commerce presence are (1) Knowing your business goals. (2). Knowing which technology will help you achieve those goals.

Developing an e-commerce presence map

E-commerce was once a PC specific activity, but today many Internet shoppers use their smartphones and tablets to discover products and services, compare prices, and access social media sites. Your customers are on these devices throughout the day, engaging in different conversations, depending on what they are doing – touching base with friends, tweeting, or reading a blog. All of those are a touch point where you can connect with these customers.

Development Milestones

In six months to a year, what kind of footprint do you expect your online business to have? We'll help you to visualize that once we establish a general project timeline highlighting the various stages of planning and development. We will discuss with you your goals and use that information to break the project down into discrete phases that offer a roadmap to success.

Types of E-Commerce

You can choose between using eCommerce software self-hosted by us, or eCommerce software hosted on vendor specific, cloud-based infrastructure. Both provide the necessary tools to run your business online, yet each have their unique advantages and disadvantages depending on the long-term objectives of your business.

Self-Hosted

Self-hosted eCommerce software will consist of an application that sits on the same web server as your website. In most cases we'll install and configure one of several already established eCommerce platforms like:

  • Magneto
  • WooCommerce
  • OpenCart

For unique cicrumstances in which our clients could require specialized features and control, we may also build e-commerce applications from the ground up using specialized programming APIs and frameworks.
